![]() ![]() I curse Dell for removing Legacy boot support!!! How can I get these new SSD's that are legacy formatted to boot in a system that will only boot from UEFI formatted drives? If it involves using a different (or more) SSD's, that is fine. In the BIOS, you can only enable "Legacy" for EXTERNAL drives! A little research and I found that Dell has removed any ability to boot from a "legacy" formatted internal hard drive in the 7060. I soon discovered that the new 7060's don't even see anything to boot from. ![]() The old 7010 systems were set to legacy mode, not UEFI. I tried booting these new SSD's in the new Optiplex7060's. Windows 10 does such a good job of re configuring itself, I thought it would handle it fine and then (ultimately) wind up with new systems with Windows 10 and all apps intact. Then move the new SSD's to the new systems, and boot off of them. At this point, the old systems should boot to Windows 10 (1809) on new SSD's. Then, perform a Windows 10 Upgrade (1809) and apply updates. ![]() on these systems so instead of having to reinvent the wheel and reload all the new systems with tons of tax software, I had an idea - clone the old drive to a new SSD (so as to not touch the original drive), then boot the old systems on the new cloned SSD's. ![]() The client has years of tax software, etc. We purchased new Dell Optiplex 7060 workstations (Windows 10 PRO) to replace older 7010 PC's (Windows 7 PRO). ![]()
